28th Annual Arts Performance Event – April 2019

On April 13th, 850 of our loyal supporters joined for us for the 28th annual Arts Performance Event hosted at the downtown Omni Dallas Hotel.

This year’s entertainment helped theme the entire evening’s festivities. The Stars of the hit TV show Nashville took their acts from the screen to the stage. Charles Esten and Jonathan Jackson were promoted leading up to the event, but we saved a surprise special guest to announce during the event – Clare Bowen! The three of them performed various hits from the show, including a few cover songs and a few originals. The dance floor was filled with couples two-stepping to the tunes.

The beautiful decor created a festive atmosphere and the food, as always, was a hit. New this year, we enlisted the help of local artists to help connect the “facts” about family homelessness to our guests. Located in the reception prior to the event, 10 facts about our organization were displayed and 7 artists utilized their talents to interpret those facts via works of art.

Our local artists were:

Megan Smith, Willie Baronet, Amy Palmer-Gogan, Onaje Beal, Randy Jacobs, Ty Fawley and two of our very own teachers; Quinn Okafor and Tynasha Walker.

Before the dinner, we debuted a brand new multimedia presentation that announced our new strategic direction of enhancing our Two-Generational approach to solving homelessness. The new presentation highlighted the journey of three of our families who were brave enough to share their story and showcase their achievements. Thanks to Rucker & Co for their creative storytelling and ability to connect the stories from our families and to educate our guests on the issues of family homelessness.

Back for a second time, legendary DJ Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys packed the dance floor with lively dance mixes and carried the crowd to the conclusion of another fantastic evening full of fun and fundraising.

This year’s event chairs were Allen Nye, CEO of Oncor and Matt Henry, SVP, General Council of Oncor and co-chairs Mary Lee and Michael Broder, Kerri and Rick Lacher. They helped inform and attract new sponsors and raised awareness of our mission. Together, they were an important part in making this event a success. Thank you!!

This event is the primary fundraiser for our organization and would not be successful without the generous support of our co-chairs, donors, guests and sponsors!
