Working with homeless children requires highly-skilled staff with specialized training in trauma-informed care. But we still have a variety of opportunities for both individuals and groups to volunteer with us. See below for details.
Below are descriptions of many of our volunteer needs. With the exception of Classroom Buddy, all of these roles can be filled by either regular or occasional volunteers, as an individual or a group.
A Classroom Buddy spends time with the children in a classroom, reading books, helping with hands-on activities, assisting with meals/snacks, etc.
Backyard Buddies play with our children in “The Backyard,” our fabulous, interactive playground, or in the gym in case of bad weather.
Enrichment Activities Helper
Volunteers help the children with age-appropriate activities that integrate science, technology, engineering, arts, math, music, literacy, etc.
Donation drives are a great way for big groups to volunteer and a big help to our children and families. Click here for a list of needed items.
Resource Center Activities
When we receive donated items, we sort and organize them in our Resource Center. Volunteers can help with maintenance and inventory.
Bye-Bye bags are snack sacks that we distribute to our children at the end of the day. These snack sacks provide additional nutrition when the children are away from our facility. Volunteers gather the supplies and fill the bags.
Volunteer groups can serve as chaperones on field trips or help out in our holiday store. This is a great opportunity to engage with our families.
