Vogel’s Next Gen program is an impactful initiative designed to empower the next generation of non-profit leaders. The program provides participants with essential skills in leadership, fundraising, governance, and partnership. Through expert-led sessions, hands-on volunteer projects, and exclusive networking events, Next Gen equips its members with the tools to drive meaningful change and ensures the continuity of Vogel’s impactful work. This comprehensive training and mentorship opportunity uniquely positions participants to excel in the non-profit sector, making them valuable assets to any organization.
The mission of Vogel’s Next Gen committee is to build a network of high potential professionals dedicated to ending the cycle of homelessness in Dallas, building brand awareness for Vogel, and developing future leaders for the board of directors. Through fundraising, volunteer opportunities, and leadership development programs, the Next Gen committee is committed to building a brighter future for Vogel and the families it serves.
Hear directly from Vogel CEO Karen Hughes & other incredible non-profit leaders as they share their daily responsibilities and the challenges they face. Discover the critical role of a non-profit CEO from interacting with the board to addressing current issues. This session will offer invaluable insights into how a CEO utilizes their board of directors to further the mission and improve operational effectiveness. Additionally, we may feature other prominent non-profit CEOs, to provide diverse perspectives and experiences.
One of the key responsibilities of any non-profit board member is fundraising. But where do you start? Learn from Vogel’s Chief Development Officer Greg Brinkley on how to fundraise, develop recurring donors, and the role fundraising plays in an organizations overall operating budget. Additionally, you will have a chance to hear best practices from top fundraisers on the Vogel Board of Directors.
To serve on a board you must understand how a board functions. Boards generally follow the same governance principles so learning governance 101 is key to being a successful first-time board member. Guests from the Vogel Governance Committee will walk you through how they encourage board members to stay involved, how they handle major donors whose board terms have come to an end, and what to do when a board member’s ideologies no longer align with the organization’s mission, and much more.
Unlike the corporate world where competition is rampant, the non-profit sector thrives off partnership. Many organizations share best practices and partner together to further their mission, raise awareness of their brand, and fundraise. Vogel has been successful in partnering with many DFW organizations over the years. Next Gen will host roundtables with some of Vogel’s great partner organizations to discuss how a partnership can further an organization’s mission and what it takes to be a supportive non-profit partner.
Networking is a vital component of professional growth in the non-profit sector. Vogel will host at least three social events per year specifically for Next Gen members to gather, network, and share experiences. These events provide an excellent opportunity to build relationships with fellow non-profit professionals, exchange ideas, and develop a supportive community.
Vogel offers a unique opportunity for mentorship from experienced board members. This open forum allows Next Gen members to seek guidance and advice while participating in the program. This mentorship program is designed to support your professional development and provide you with the insights and knowledge necessary to excel in your non-profit career.
Engage in meaningful volunteer opportunities with Vogel through various initiatives supporting the staff and families served by the mission. In the spring, participate in the Arts Performance Event, assisting with ticket sales and serving on the host committee. These projects not only benefit the community but also offer hands-on experience in supporting the organization.
