The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual event created by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) to celebrate early learning, young children, teachers and families. Vogel marked this special occasion with a week of daily themes for the week of April 24-28.

Music Monday kicked off the week with a parade at neighboring Dallas Heritage Village. Hand-made instruments and visits from police officers, sheep and chicken shenanigans, an instrument petting zoo and Dan Gibson, a storyteller and banjo picker, will round out the day.

Tasty Tuesday included building a salad for snack and police officers reading to toddler classes. In the Backyard, the children enjoyed obstacle courses , outdoor sports like soccer and field day fun.

Work Together Wednesday focused on a service project for the school or community. In the Backyard, the theme of building together was carried through with big blocks, boxes and more!

On Artsy Thursday, the children will made hats to wear and kites to fly. In the Backyard, they had the opportunity to paint on giant canvases.

Family Friday rounded out the week. Parents were invited to join their children for breakfast in the Backyard. The children made a family mural, and police officers read to the preschool classes. Finally, the children got the chance to ride a special train ride on the blacktop at pick-up time.

Many thanks to our teachers and staff for making The Week of the Young Child such a memorable experience for our children! See below for more photos.
