With great food, drinks and music; exciting auctions and amazing feats of design talent, the 2016 Furniture 4 Kids Party & Auction raised more than $150,000 to support Vogel Alcove and its mission to help children recover from homelessness.
Attendees enjoyed delectable small plates prepared by chefs from Bolsa, Dos Jefes,
Empire Baking Company, Mozzarella Company, Nick & Sam’s, Pak Pao, Pink Magnolia, Proof & Pantry and Start. Lisa Garza-Selcer of Sissy’s Southern Kitchen assembled this lineup and prepared a signature dish as well. Drinks were generously provided by Glazer’s, Ketel One and Community Brewing.
NFL Hall of Famer and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Brown and his wife Sherice served as Chairs for the Furniture 4 Kids party, and Tim donated a unique auction item – the opportunity to spend an afternoon with him!
Author and Certified Life Coach Ashley Burges emceed the event and even pitched in as auctioneer. And the musical stylings of Terence Bradford and Congo Square created a fun and festive atmosphere.
The heart of the event was the design contest, in which teams competed to transform identical wooden toy boxes into fun and functional furniture pieces. Entries included a Crayola box full of art supplies, a fire truck with working lights, Dallas Cowboys and Cowboys Cheerleader lockers, a Lion King movie box complete with stuffed animals and a pirate ship/treasure chest.
Vogel Alcove thanks everyone who helped make Furniture 4 Kids 2016 a success, especially event founders GL Seaman and OFS Brands as well as title sponsor Clarus Glassboards.
