While the Back to School chaos can be a fun family experience, it can be a challenge for families that are experiencing homelessness. Purchasing uniforms and endless amounts of school supplies can be extremely expensive. Limited finances and lack of support can make Back to School season a very difficult time of year.
With the support of the Dallas community and corporate partners, Vogel granted 45 families, and over 100 children, an opportunity to receive school uniforms and school supplies, at no cost, during our annual Back to School Store. Of the 150 children that are served at Vogel on a daily basis, 12 children headed off to Kindergarten, well equipped with all of their classroom needs. School age children were able to receive school supplies such as notebooks, binders, Kleenex, spirals, pens and pencils, markers, calculators and other school necessities.
In addition, 30 children and their parents, received free Back to School haircuts from our friends at The Parlor Barbershop. Six barbers visited our school and styled our families with the freshest fades and the sharpest lines.
Thanks to our donors, Vogel is able to provide a quarterly store that allows our families to receive seasonal needs for FREE! With the financial and in-kind contributions of our community, we can continually build upon our quarterly store and make it bigger and better!
