Mental health is so important and affects all areas of our lives.
Mental health issues can also cause physical problems, such as headaches, stomach issues, tiredness, and inability to sleep. There are many ways to improve and maintain your mental health including self-care!
Did you know, according to the CDC mental health illness is one of the most common health issues? Unfortunately, there is a big stigma surrounding mental health. People often feel ashamed to seek help due to others thinking they are “crazy.”
However, there are many ways to improve the stigma surrounding mental health and EDUCATION is one of the most important! While there are severe cases of mental illness, about 50% of people who seek treatment are simply wanting to “talk” with someone. Maybe a person is going through a rough period in their life, wanting to get rid of negativity in their life, work through a conflict, set boundaries or learn new ways of coping with stress, frustration, anxiety, anger, depression, or grief and loss.
A few ways to overcome the stigma around mental health issues are speaking out against stigma, joining a support group, not isolating yourself from others, focusing on the positive things in life, and talking to a therapist!
